Camping laundry is easier to plan when you know where you can wash and dry clothes. Melt’s slim pack can fit into a small cupboard or kit bag, but a compact detergent still needs to be used and disposed of properly.
Use proper washing facilities
Choose a campsite washroom, laundrette or another permitted washing area. Do not wash clothes with detergent in a river, lake or stream. Do not assume that a sheet format or an environmental claim makes detergent harmless to wildlife or safe to pour onto the ground.
Take a dose plan, not a loose handful
Estimate the washes you expect to do and follow the pack’s dosing guide. Keep the strips labelled, dry and away from cooking equipment and food. Condensation and damp kit can affect a box stored in a tent or vehicle.
Allow time for drying
A quick wash is only half the job if the weather is wet. Check your clothes’ care labels and the campsite’s drying facilities. Pack layers that you can manage within the facilities available rather than planning to wash everything the same way.
For a caravan or motorhome
Store the pack in a dry, secure cupboard out of children’s reach. Follow the site and vehicle instructions for wastewater disposal. If your system has specific chemical restrictions, confirm product compatibility before use rather than relying on a general laundry claim.
Can I use the strip in a stream because it dissolves?
No. Dissolving is not permission to release detergent into natural water. Use designated washing and wastewater facilities.
