Melt strips can be torn for hand washing. Start with the garment’s care label and the pack instructions, then use a suitable dose for the amount of laundry and water. Clothes needing a specialist detergent still need that specialist care.
Check the garment before the detergent
Hand wash does not mean every fabric needs the same treatment. Wool, silk, technical finishes and delicate trims can have specific requirements. If the label calls for a specialist product or dry cleaning, do not assume a general laundry strip is a suitable substitute.
Use the instructions on the pack
Choose the recommended amount for hand washing and make sure the detergent disperses in the water before washing. Avoid guessing a strong solution because you are washing in a small basin. Keep unused strips and the pack away from splashes.
Rinse and dry with care
Rinse thoroughly, then remove water and dry as directed by the garment label. Avoid wringing or stretching delicate items unless their instructions allow it. Leave enough time and space for clothes to dry fully, particularly when washing in a hotel or shared bathroom.
A compact option away from home
A small labelled supply is easier to pack than a full detergent bottle. Keep the instructions with it and store it dry. Do not confuse laundry strips with hand soap: they are for washing suitable clothing, not washing your skin.
Can I use Melt on any delicate fabric?
No blanket claim is made. Check the garment label and use a specialist detergent when the garment requires one.
